There are two levels of examinations conducted nationally. The Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSC) is offered to students at the end of grade 10 and the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (HSC) offered at the end of grade 12.

General Examinations conducted by this department have had a long history. These examinations are now conducted twice a year and the following exams are normally offered: Clerk Grade One and Two, Secretary, Leaders of Friday Prayers, Muezzin, and Funeral/Burial Obligations. These examinations are open to the general public who wish to join a particular work force or government service and also for those who wish to accomplish certain religious services.
